The Louvre’s collection dates back to the 16th century, while it was first a fortress then a king’s palace. The Louvre became a museum right after the French Revolution and its collections get enriched from then on. During this 3-hour tour, we will get to see the most important masterpieces of the Louvre, passing from the Egyptian and Greek antiquities, heading to the red rooms with French and Italian Renaissance paintings, until we exit the museum under the glass pyramid, constructed by architect I.M.Pei.

During this tour, we will have the possibility to learn the story behind the story of the most important Louvre paintings. Who were all these artists that are well-known today, yet regarded as pathetic, miserable and useless back in their era? What were the artistic tendencies that made a painter successful or a loser? And which artistic and/or social rules described a work as a masterpiece?

We will visit the artworks depicted in the book-movie and will use the art themes presented as our vital lead. Our intent is not to unveil the hidden mysteries of religious indoctrinations and mystic cults. Painting techniques and artworks’ symbology would serve as a medium to discover the artists and the art stories behind them.
